Induction task

We were given the task to create a 2 page script around a brief. The brief:

The following props: Phone, video camera, rope, ID tag

The following location: BRIT School, Selhurst

Context: Invasion of school

Genre: Sci-fi or thriller

I started by brain stroming ideas.

I then wrote a brief plan script as a first draft.

In a radio studio a presenter indroduced brit live. Meanwhile a person walks through a corridor and cuts off from a group they were talking with, Over a specker the Brit radio plays music. They walk up the stairs with up to FMP, suddenly they stop and slowly look up with a flash something black the size of a football falls on them. Ominaously they look up and coniute walking once again, this time, slower and lifeless. The presenter on brit radio welcomes people back from the music break and strats reassuring the school of the unthertening spider hives around the school. Meanwhile the person from ealrir contues walking as other around the school have nests fall on them also, in doing so pushing them to walk in the direction of brit radio to follow the original. Sonna group of these zombie like creatres walk togerther into the brit radio studio were the orinagl infected person opens the door. Over the radio we hear the unacceptied arrivl of the perosn then horrifiy screams of the presents before the line goes dead.

I did not write this in mind of a screenplay and instead in the interest of practical filming, for this reason I don't think its paticually effective. Next time I will try to understand to brief better and use the storytelling skills I've learnt in lessons after this.

In the next lesson, we created scripts around the brief of

two characters at a dinner table
2 pages long

I brainstormed a couple of ideas until landing on my script idea which was around two characters who are unaware they are toys in a doll's house.

I think this task went well considering the harsh time restictions to write and come up with an idea within. I like the concept of my narritve but I think with more time the establishment of the problems of the charectors it could have been much improved. I would like to work on writing natural specking charectors as i think in this script the diuogle is at time jaring or sounds scripted.

With this knowledge, we were given the task to write an action-based script from an existing movie scene, I choose the beginning of Shaun of the dead.

I decided to write an opening scene for a feature-length film with the designated prop of a plate and focused particularly on the mise-en-sen description. To gather ideas for mise-en-sen i used pintrest to find images to stimulate ideas.
